British Home and Hospital - New Kitchen
As part of their major refurbishment programme the hospital decided to construct a new kitchen facility capable of providing all food requirements. Having identified the site location in a corner bounded by two sections of boundary wall the design was then led by the functional requirements of the catering manager. Once these were defined the building envelope could then be progressed bearing in mind the sensitive nature of the site. To minimise the building's impact on its surroundings it was kept as low as possible but with sufficient space in the roof void to accommodate the ventilation and mechanical plant required. Internally the building is finished to the highest standards with Whiterock to walls and ceilings and Altro Stronghold to the floor. During the course of the project the client introduced the refurbishment of an existing store to provide a dish wash facility finished to the same standards.
