Selected Projects - Housing
Burdett Road - Beaver Housing Society
This design and build project for Beaver Housing Society comprised the demolition of a redundant hall and the construction of a terrace of three three bedroom houses. Due the planning constraints, the plan shape became complex and the upper floors even more so. This necessitated the inclusion of a number of steel beams required to support upper levels of external walls. The roof structure was particularly challenging and required a skilled team of carpenters to erect it. One unit is designated for the disabled and contains a through floor lift, walk in shower, adjustable height kitchen units and provision for overhead hoist tracks together with extra wide doors. The local occupational therapist took an active part in the final design on the unit and her requirements were incorporated which included the height of sockets and switches and location of grabs rail etc.
