Lambourn House, Lodge Road - Wandle Housing Association

This design and build contract for Wandle Housing Association was carried out as part of Croydon Council's 'care in the community' programme providing residential accommodation for the severely disabled.

Externally the building is designed to give the appearance of a pair of semi-detached houses but is very different internally. Whilst the central core contains two staircases there is also a lift serving both halves of the property and all areas are fully accessible by wheel chair users.

At ground floor there are two lounges, two fully equipped kitchens fitted with motorised kitchen units to provided an infinitely variable working height, a laundry room again fully equipped with washing machines, dryers and ironing boards all designed for use by the disabled and two walk in shower/WCs.

The first and second floors contain the resident's bedrooms each having its own vanity unit with adjustable height washbasin; there are three bathrooms each with a different specialist bath and specialist WC.

The top floor contains the staff office and flat.
