Selected Projects - Housing
173 Lower Road, London SE16
This 'infill' project comprises three one bedroom flats. Although superficially a simple project this was not in fact the case. In the first place, there was the need for party wall agreements with adjoining properties and in second place there were potential problems due to the close proximity of the London Underground. There was also the need for careful planning of the construction programme as access was only available from the front of the site therefore materials required at the rear of the property needed to be brought to site at an early stage. Piled foundations were also required and this presented problems as only a mini rig would fit on the site. However, once out of the ground the traditionally constructed superstructure progressed smoothly resulting in a good-looking property matching well with those adjoining.
