The old club building became the key to the redevelopment of a town centre site in the middle of Epsom, Surrey. However, whilst the developer's offer to the Club appeared generous the funds available to the Club were insufficient for them to complete their new building as they wished.
Based on a Design and Build contract we worked out with the club that the way forward would be to build the complete structure as they required but only fit out the members areas. This would enable the Club to function and they could then fit out the remainder of the building as funds became available.
Ground conditions necessitated piled foundations and due to the restricted site area and narrow roads Road Closure Orders were required for the installation of the upper floors and roof trusses as a large crane was needed to hoist these items into position.
Careful management and forward planning was required to ensure that the closure dates were met as they were only permitted on a Sunday and to miss one would mean a two week delay to the programme.
